Creatures of Leisure 6’ Shortboard Double
We took the 6’0 Shortboard Double down to Salina Cruz for a swell. For us West coast natives it’s a relatively easy, albeit longer than necessary, trip down to Mainland so we pack lighter for these strikes. Surf Only recommends this board bag for short trips requiring only two boards.
The bag is 6’0 x 22” x 2 boards thick unless you feel like cramming a third in (which we did). The expandable sidewalls with 10mm of foam protection allowed the stretch, but it was tight. Having a compact and snug fit for your boards is safer than using a bag too large for what you're bringing. The loose fit creates saggy space for your boards to move around and potentially get damaged. We wrapped a towel in and around the empty spaces between the three noses to fill empty space and create structure. The bag and boards made the trip both ways unscathed.
Here’s some other facts we like about the board bag :
Exclusive “diamond-tech” fabric from Creatures guarantees stronger, lighter construction resistant to UV degradation and high temperature wear. The bag is black on one side so it does attract the sun and gets pretty warm for your boards if you leave it out on the black side.
“X-Flow” ventilation system installed on the bag means air can go in and out removing trapped humidity and moisture. This worked well when boards got soaked in a tropical downpour en route to airport.
Heat embossed warning logo on one side of the bag is cute addition but we’re still skeptical as if any airport employees pay attention to labels on the bags. “Fragile” and “Gampang Pecah” which translated in Indo means the same.
