Solid Sun Logistics Sunscreen Face Stick
One look at your local lot lizard should give you motivation to wear sunscreen. If that burnt scene isn't enough then Melanoma, and the millions affected by it each year, should be. Check statistics here. Point being, you should have a thick lathered layer of this shit on you anytime the sun is shining.
Face sticks are a crucial component of your surf kit because they should be used every session. In the past Shiseido was the go-to face screen for surfers. The non-endemic brand was found only in department stores. Many sunscreen companies in the surf world have come about and since been producing face screen. Vertra, Headhunter, Shade, Sun Bum, Avasol, Raw Elements, Salt and Stone etc. We've found this new brand Solid Sun Logistics to do the trick for us.
Most of the advancements in this new surf screen category are lent from the less eco-conscious makeup industry. This means impossible to pronounce chemicals that while stated safe, could be dealing long term affects elsewhere in your body beyond the above mentioned. Finding a face stick that's ingredients are easy to understand should be a top priority. Also it's white and tends to stain a bit less than the skin matched colors you'd find in more makeup based formulas.
The Solid Sun Logistics Face Stick did just this for us at SO proving to last on the face well past dinner time and deploying a list of ingredients that was easy to digest. Literally, we do no recommend this by any means but according to the content label some of the ingredients sound like food (Castor Seed Oil, Green Tea Extract, Aloe Juice, Beeswax).
The JUMBO glue stick style applicator is pretty easy to use and rolls on evenly. Multiple hour sessions without reapplication and the stick stuck well into sunset. That's impressive and so is the price at $25.
