This pad is simple on the foot because of the flat design without arch. It's constructed with Bloom foam, a plant based foam formulated with algae biomass. As the "soy based ink" on the "post-consumer backing" indicates, the Slater Designs 4 piece flat traction pad returns 28 gallons of filtered fresh water back to the place where it had been affected by algal blooms. Priced at $42.50, only a few more dollars than most competitors, this pad is worth a purchase for the environmentally conscious surfer. The Bloom foam compared to the foam of an Astrodeck will be  softer on your foot and knees while in boardies. We have not tested the pad for longer than 4 motnhs of use, it is expected that the pad will break down after around 9 months of consistent use. (3-5+ sessions a week)
