Ripcurl E-Bomb 4/3
This years E-bomb series is all about performance. Performance meaning light and flexible E6 neoprene for the surfer to feel less confined. It feels like a thin 4/3, in the best way possible. Wetsuits are becoming increasingly thinner and lighter and we can’t be more stoked on the 2019 Ripcurl E-Bomb 4/3.
E6 neoprene is the latest of Ripcurl’s propriety blend but details of the material are scarce. From what we can tell, its a less dense open cell neoprene with a heathered jersey knit backer. This creates durability with abrasion resistance while also remaining very flexible.
The seams penetrate only one side of the wetsuit (the outside) and are triple glued. Stress points are taped on the inside for longevity. The simplicity of the construction yields a durable and warm 4/3 at reasonable price. $299.95 is what the E-bomb 4/3 will cost you and thats fair compared to their top tier Heat Seeker (3/2) at $500.
Also included with a Ripcurl suit purchase is a 3 year warranty on all stitching, 1 year on materials and construction. (zipper-less entry and key pockets etc.)
After surfing a few sessions in the suit we’ve noticed the neck is tight. This is a known problem (according to the Ripcurl employee who hooked us up with it) and is to be fixed next season. So beware if you have a thick neck, this suit might be uncomfortable for you. You’ll have to wear it in for the first sessions hoping it will stretch out enough for comfortability.
Another minor note is the magnetic closure on key pocket. While its placement right above your knee is perfect the closure seems a bit weak/loose. Your key is fastened to the teather so it doesn’t really effect the purpose of the key holder though.
Zipper-less entry is easy to get on with the flexibility of the new E6 neoprene. Also notable is new drawstring/clamp. Hasn’t popped off for us and the drawstring is easy to pull if you need it to be tighter around your shoulder; seems like there isn’t too much slack to tighten up on the entry though. Zipper free on point with performance through flexibility.
You’ll definitely be rocking Ripcurl logos with the suits chest, shoulder and upper back logos but over-branding seems to be the name of the game for the top surf brands in the industry. For $299.95 its one of the best wetsuits available for you weekend warriors and thats for sure !
